Either a slicker brush or pin brush should do the trick. The pin brush may be a tad more effective, but make sure the brush is not sharp. To get Reya used to being brushed, brush her just 2 minutes a day, going over a different section each time.

It's generally recommended to brush your dog's coat when it is dry. Brushing a wet coat can potentially cause more tangling and matting, especially in long-haired breeds. Wet hair is more prone to breakage, and brushing may be less effective in removing loose hair and preventing mats.

Be sure to use the right tools to remove tangles from your dog's matted hair. A slicker brush or a FURminator are good for removing mats, knots, and tangles. A rake brush is also a decent tangle remover.
